ExplainTech.com
The mission of ExplainTech.com is to provide simple explanations of computer technology and the Internet for the casual home user. This website is intended for people who don’t really care to know where it came from or the intricate details of how it works, but just want to know what a particular word, or phrase, or issue that they read online, or heard in the media, actually means.

There are plenty of websites which explain computer technology in far more detail with academic precision, but for this website, I try to explain it with everyday examples and unconventional analogies. In other words, the tone of ExplainTech.com is conversational — the way I might answer a “what is” question in social conversation.

This site does not provide tutorials or recommendations for using technology, but you might discover something that piques your interest. Browse the articles and you might just come across a whole new aspect of the Internet. By design, I do not link to other websites for “more information”. For anyone who wants more details on a particular topic, you can always do a search on your favorite search engine like Ask.com or Yahoo or Google, but the top results will usually include a link to the relevent Wikipedia article. So if you’re interested in the technical details of a particular item, you might as well go directly to the Wikipedia and enter your topic there.
